Brand and identity hijacking using the social media. What can happen! Part 1

For the past month, I have been testing social media monitoring solution to see if this will be a good fit for my start-up's social media activities. During one of my monitoring sessions, I came across the following brand hijacking. At first, I found this very amusing. I admired the the absolute gall to take a competitors brand name and incorporate it into your e-commerce and… Continue

12 Considerations for Social Media Policies,Part 2

Continued...12 Considerations a Company needs to consider when preparing a social media (SM)policy:

7. SM blogging-This is not under interactions because of the highly controversial nature of an individual giving his opinion using company owned hardware and software. Many firms are still very uncertain of allowing employees to blog using company hardware or software. Also, the full legal ramifications have not been determined. Giving employees the ability to blog in the workplace has cre… Continue

12 Considerations for Social Media Policies, Part 1

Recently, a local township in the Tucson, AZ area created its first social media policy. I don't think many realized what type of change this will create between this governing body and their constitutents. More importantly, this brings up the idea of aggressively pushing the importance of social media guidelines for business, governments, and non-profits,especially after incidents involving Dominos, CBS news, and Honda in 2009.

If you are thinking or planning a foray into the social web… Continue

Why social media marketing....

Why social media marketing will not work in Tucson!

Tucson, Arizona, aka the Old Pueblo, is located in Southern Arizona about 60 miles north of the US/Mexico border. Like many southwestern frontier towns such as Colorado Springs, CO; Austin, TX; and Albuquerque, NM; Tucson suffers from highly migatory workforces, boom and bust economic cycles, and tourism is a cornerstone of the economy.

When the first inklings of social media marketing started to appear in national TV broadcasts, most Tucsoni… Continue

Social media: Tweets falling in the forest...

Remember the phrase, if a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound! This is how falling trees and the social media are related...

Last week on Twitter, I exchanged tweets with a fellow tweeter. He sent out a tweet based around the old phrase of a tree falling in the forest: If a tweet falls in the forest, does anybody hear! My reply: Depends on how many other people are trying to talk to you! We both LOL'd.

This brings out a very valid point with conversations in the social media. Are we… Continue

I will do that William; just a comment or two about real estate.
Now is the time to begin. It takes awhile to become knowledgeble
and while the seasoned agents who did not change with the market
are quitting the newbies who are willing to learn about REO and
short sale properties will be closing transactions in the near future.
Just as it is good to buy low and sell high it is good to position
yourself when everyone else is jumping overboard. Real estate
is a tangible asset which will never disappear from our reality.
